My caduceus seeks my serpent -
Why do you shun me?
Why do you recoil at my touch,
Your eyes burn with such fury?
Master of Babylon,
Are you upset with my duties and offerings?
Does this simple wife no longer hold your heart?
Does power fight for your attention,
And make me only second to your desires?
Does power please you more than a loving wife?
My heart can no longer fight -
My once-loving Master, my once loving Twin,
May our Sons watch their Mother die,
May Nabu rewrite my destiny,
Allow me to die in the shadows
As her twin leaves her -
May the Cosmos see a faithful wife’s broken heart
And my sadness be omit.
I die alone in a foreign land.
Lovely Marduk, Divine Marduk,
No other name of yours is as pleasing as this.
As Krishna’s name has only true beauty in Krishna,
And Enlil’s purity in the name of Enlil,
As Aphrodite is seductive, as Neptune as calm and ferocious,
So, too, does your name define you,
But the resonate of your name, dearest Marduk,
As only your name can be resonated,
As only you can embody
In your perfection, your beauty,
Your grace, your godliness -
Your name devours me,
Captures and enlightens me -
Let me drown in your name…
Marduk! Allow me to call you by name!
Your divine name that pleases my tongue,
Which tickles my soul when I speak it.
Your Divine Name that gives you strength,
That connects me to you on such levels
that no other entity can.
Allow me to whisper your name,
So only my heart hears,
And may you grace me with you absolute beauty,
your divinity,
As I resonate your name through the heavens!
Lovely Marduk, Divine Marduk,
I would love you all the same -
May my lovely Marduk leave me no more,
And surrender himself to me as I to him,
Once and for all
What manner of poison have you afflicted me?
Where my body shudders at your mere glance,
Where your touch destroys every wall within me -
You knew me from the beginning.
And still you let me away from you!
You allowed me to find my way back to you -
But you never let me go.
Your presence frightened me, held me,
And made me love you all the same.
Master of Babylon, what selfishness is this
That I want you all to myself?
